A-Active awarded the Chamber of Commerce Small Business of The Year for Virginia Beach 2003
2003
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A-Active Termite & Pest Control Company was named Virginia Beach Small Business of the Year for 2003. The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads, Inc., announced the awards on April 23, 2003. “It is a great honor to be recognized for our accomplishments,” says Kevin Kordek, president, A-Active. “We have worked very hard to build a business that is customer driven and gives something back to the community that we serve.” A-Active has served all of Southeastern Virginia for 35 years. It was the first company to introduce the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System and the Certified Termite Detection K-9 to the region. In addition to termite and pest control services, A-Active offers moisture control and repair services. In 2002, a holiday lighting service was introduced. “Our business isn’t just about pest management,” says Jeff Johnson, vice president of A-Active. “It’s about helping people to improve their quality of life. People don’t have to live with disease carrying, damaging pests.” “This award is really about the quality of our people,” says Kordek. “They have genuine concern for their clients, many of which have become their friends. I think of our employees and clients as family.” On Wednesday, May 14, 2003, Mayor Myra Obendorf will present the awards for the outstanding small businesses for Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. One company will be named “Outstanding Small Business” for the region.
